You guessed right—it’s the mamas!!!

But what if I asked you this. How do the dads do? Is their sleep as disrupted when there are multiple babies or young children in the house? Or do the moms take the brunt of the sleep debt?

Well, a recent study shows that moms, but NOT dads, experience more fragmented sleep with multiple children. The study showed…

👉 New moms with one baby had better quality sleep than moms with multiple young children.

👉 The number of children made no difference for the fathers’ sleep.

I’m guessing that if you’re a mom with young children, you can relate. Not only do you need to be the one to get up and nurse the baby in the night, but lots of kids tend to go for mom if they wake up in the night or the wee hours of the morning.

So, let’s put some ideas on the table for how you can nourish yourself and still feel like a real human being despite the ups and downs in the night.

👍 Talk with your hubby! Maybe there are ways he can proactively share the responsibilities in the night.

👍 Talk with the kids. This won’t work for babies, but toddlers and older kids can learn to look at a clock and only come for you at a specified time.

👍 Rest in the day. Give yourself permission to rest when the baby naps (or at least lie down for 5 minutes!).

👍 Schedule self-care. It’s easy to get wrapped up in caring for everyone else. Make it a priority to incorporate things that refuel YOU.
