Do you know how many hours a day you sit? Being too sedentary is a risk factor for heart disease and even early death. The good news is that you can counteract the effects of sitting by adopting some simple habits. Try these:

  • Use a standing desk or take periods of time to work while standing at a counter
  • Get up to walk around at least once every hour. Set a timer so you won’t forget!
  • Be intentional about getting 30-60 minutes of dedicated exercise every day
  • Watch your posture. Some of the ill effects of sitting are because of poor posture. If you sit at a desk, try using a stability ball to force good posture 

We can’t always change our situation, but we can always find ways to deal with it better.
