Common Symptoms and recommended teas

 

Gas, bloating, indigestion: Here we want to use carminative herbs and spices like cardamom, fennel, peppermint, bishopweed and even chamomile tea. These teas improve peristalsis, digestion and enzyme secretion, bringing gas and bloating to a minimum. The root cause of gas and bloating is often “liver stagnation / liver toxicity”, or lack of bile flow. In this case, for the best tea for liver repair we want to use bitter herbs and cholagogues such as dandelion root, turmeric, cardamom, ginger, lemon and peppermint tea. All these herbs either stimulate bile flow or improve liver function – both necessary for improved digestion as I share in my Free Holistic Medicine Courses Online!

 

Insomnia: Typical herbs used to improve sleep include chamomile, passionflower, hops, oatstraw and lemon balm. These teas relax the nervous system and improve melatonin or GABA production, two compounds necessary for adequate sleep. According to traditional Chinese medicine, poor sleep can also be due to liver toxicity aggravating the mind. It’s therefore important to also ensure your liver is detoxifying properly. Adding the liver friendly teas I’ve mentioned above to your daily routine will optimize your sleep even further.

 

These are just a couple of examples of how we can use teas to heal the body and mind. The key thing to note is that teas can be used to treat symptoms and also to help treat the root cause, which is often a deeper issue for most people.
